I met Christ today

As surely as I breathe.

'Callest thou me good?'

Well, I thought I was doing alright.

Not of the highest echelons,

But pretty fair,

Doing my best -

Humble servant, my brother's keeper,

All that sort of thing,

And then -

A saint crossed my path

(He didn't know it - giving - pure -

Shining so bright, I couldn't look).

O God,

I am humbled.

I cannot recall his exact words;

I couldn't even look him fully in the face -

But what he said - he offered -

Was himself

To role-reverse so another

Could have his health, his strength, all his days ahead

And he embrace the other's wounded world.
